Bavarian Youth Jazz Orchestra - Landes Jugendjazzorchester Bayern

I should’ve posted this blog like 2 months ago, because this concert was held on may 16th 2014. So on that day there was a concert, jazz concert precisely, brought by Goethe Institut and held at Goethe Haus Jakarta. The performers were boys (and girl too) from Bavarian Youth Jazz Orchestra (Landes Jugendjazzorchester Bayern) from Germany of course. I really looked forward to see these guys playing. From the band’s name I could conclude that the members of the band would be some young, cool guys which would really fun to be watched (and heard of course).

So on May 16th, Tina, her friend and me went to Goethe Institut. We arrived at 5 pm. The concert would actually held at 7.30 pm, so we decided to go the bibliothek to kill some time (I was such a nice person, no? ). At the library I met a german boy, who I’ve never seen in Goethe before (yea I knew all the guys in Goethe :p). He’s thin, tall and had curly blonde hair and wore glasses. As a good Indonesierin :D I smiled at him. He smiled back at me and said “Halo”. Such a nice guy.

At 7 pm my another friend, Sonya, came to bibliothek and told us that there were huge crowds waiting outside the Goethe Haus to see the concert. We then packed our stuff and ran to the Goethe Haus and we had to queue like 10 minutes until the concert hall was finally opened.

We sat pretty close to the stage, which was really good. As I was waiting for the concert to start, I began to observe the stage. From the number of the chairs on the stage, the members would be like 20 persons. Right at 7.30 the members of the band came and I was like “Dammmnnnnnn! These guys are soo hübschhhh”. Hahaha. I didn’t really get the ‘Youth’ in the Bavarian Youth Jazz Orchestra. But these guys looked like 24 to 27 years old in my opinion. They were not that ‘youth’ and they seemed really professional without haven’t even played their instruments.

They played lot of songs. Although I didn’t know some songs they played (not a jazz fan here sorry). The only songs I knew were Price Tag (and it’s not a jazz song after all), O Sole Mio (not a jazz song too). But they turned those songs into jazzy stuff and that was actually really cool. The other songs were mainly instrumental songs, but the way they played them was really attractive and I really loved it. The conductor, Mr. Harald Ruschenbaum, was really funny and he always did his best to communicate with the audience.

During Concert

Andrew Garfield's got skill

Being happy all the time :p

The members itself were well…physically great :p there was a guy who played saxophone (Michael) who looked exactly like Prince William. Another guy who also played saxophone with beard and had hazel hair and wore glasses (Lukas) was really cool looking guy. Somehow looked like Andrew Garfield (not to mention that The Amazing Spiderman 2 was running on the cinemas that time hahahaha). He was Sonya’s favorite. Behind him was a guy with beard too and he played trombone (Felix). He’s Sonya’s favorite too but I had to admit that he’s really handsome. The guy who played drum(Ludwig) was incredibly and literally sweet and he’s Tina’s favorite. The guy I met at the Bibliothek was surprisingly the vibraphone player (named Felix too) hahaha :D

But if you asked me who my favorite is. It was the guy who played Kontrabass (Lukas Keller). Yep, the conductor mentioned his last name as well. He’s so argrggrgrghh. He had beard (yea another beard again, seemed like beard is trending in Deutschland - but I didn't think his beard fit on him, but he still looked okay anyway) and a pair of red lips which were **** He’s not really handsome actually. Not as handsome as the trombone guy. But the way he played his bass was the main thing. Sometimes he looked ‘overconcentrated’ to the partitur  (mainly in the uptempo songs) then he unconsciously opened his mouth a lil bit trying to show his red lips. But sometimes he smiled during his playing (maybe because he just hit his favorite note). He really enjoyed each song he was playing. I thought I had love at the first sight note - although I didnt know the very first note he played that time.

The concert was overall great. Bin kein Jazzfan, but I really enjoyed the concert. Although Sonya who was sitting next to me was busy taking  pictures of the members with her handphone. I mean please stop taking pictures and please watch these beautiful human beings talented guys playing cool musics, because we definitely got time for taking pictures.

And we did.

I actually wasn’t really care about the taking pictures with the band member’s (except Lukas) but I was too hypocrite for this. So these are what I got:

with two of the saxophonists, the right one is Andrew Garfield
the left one seems like he suffers lack of sleep or something maybe
It was a little difficult for Sonya to get a chance to take photo
with 'Andrew' since he is her favorite, because there were like million
girls at that time who wanted to take picture him. I thought he everyone's
favorite (fortunately not mine). The sleepy guy is more good looking nach
meiner Meinung.

with the guitarist. dude i love your scarf. i really dooo!

Felix, the trombone guy I told you before. Isn't he good looking?

Yes, Felix. Sonya is a lil bit short. But you don't have to do that ;)

Kak Tina, Mr. Harald Ruschenbaum, Trumpete guy and that person :D

with Sonya and Ludwig, the drummer
Allow me to check my blood sugar level cause this dude is too sweet to be true

Whoopsss watch out the hand Ludwig!

Group hugs pose

finally the one that matters
Lukasssssssss
I was thinking about asking him to show me his palm
because I wanted to see those blisters and calluses which
every string-instruments player definitely have. But that would
be considered as unpolite thing. So all I asked him was "du
heißt Lukas, oder?” and he replied “Ja ja” with huge smile.
I was so proud that I studied German.

The fact that my future Gastfamilie lived in München and these guys came from Bavaria was really coincidence. Also my musician blood (thanks dad) told me that I would meet them again. Perhaps I could watch them again somewhere in Germany?

Ps: Please forgive my catastrophic english especially the grammmar. My german is responsible for this :D
